Event Details

Do you have an inspiring story that could be told live at a 2024 Flathead Story Concert in Kalispell MT?

Or did you attend a live 2023 Flathead Story Concert (at Sacred Waters Brewing or FVCC) and wonder how you could craft a tellable story for live spoken word events like ours?

We want to help you craft your tellable stories! FSC needs new stories from Flathead residents (or visiting Tellers) for live spoken word events at Sacred Waters Brewing (Kalispell) -- in 2024 = Tuesdays evenings, May 21 and September 17th -- or additional events at other local venues.

To help potential local Tellers create and submit stories** for FSC consideration, host-curators Barbara and Glenn Schiffman are leading several free one-evening "story incubator" online-only workshops. If you have questions about the workshops, call Barbara at 747-238-0038.

Next online workshop is Tuesday 4/16 - 6:30-9:00PM MDT - via Zoom. Admission is free but space is limited so reservations are required.

To save your space and get Zoom link, email story23fvcc@gmail.com with your full name, phone and email -- or register at FSC website (via "Make Reservation" button below).

Flathead Story Concerts are curated and themed live community events (not open mics). Get details and story submission guidelines at FSC website: https://FlatheadStoryConcerts.wootick.com

FSC prefers true personal experience stories -- but will also consider flash fiction and novel or memoir excerpts (6-8 minutes tell-time; 900-1200 words written). Stories should be inspiring for Listeners and fit 2024 FSC themes: "All in the Family" or "Firsts and Lasts."

According to host/curator Glenn Schiffman, "Some of our most memorable 2023 stories were from non-writer Flathead residents who bravely shared their personal experiences live with between 60-120 story fans!"

Flathead Story Concerts are like "The Moth Radio Hour" or PBS-TV's "Stories from the Stage." In 2023, FSC hosted three live spoken word events, featuring 6-8 tellers each, at FVCC and Sacred Waters Brewing.

All FSC hosts and tellers are volunteers. Sponsors include Authors of the Flathead, The Bookshelf in Kalispell, Sacred Waters Brewing, and other local supporters.

Everyone has a story to tell! We hope you will join us in 2024 at a Crafting a Tellable Story workshop for potential Tellers (offered monthly from April-August) &/or as a Listener at our live events at Sacred Waters Brewing - 5/21 and 9/17. Feel free to invite story-fan friends!

**Residents of Flathead Valley are invited to submit new tellable stories for live event consideration even if they don't attend a free online workshop. There are no submission fees.
